WALT Explain and use the invariant properties of figures and objects under transformation [reflection, rotation, translation or enlargement]
Introduction
On the last week of term two our class made art out of geometry using the squares on our peace of paper we used Translation, Reflection, Enlargement and Rotation.
First I got three strips of paper and five little square pieces of paper. I had to fold the paper on the lines of symmetry then I had to cut out the triangles. I got eight triangles, with those triangles I glued them on the strip of paper putting them in the order reflection, translation and rotation. When I was done they looked like this:
Secondly I did enlarging shapes on grid paper. I started with a bird in a cage. I had to enlarge it by a scale factor of two so if one part was originally one across it will be two across, if it was two across it would be four across. Then I went on to a level five enlarging task, it was hard to enlarge it from the center of rotation.
Finally I did my geometry artwork. First I got a piece of paper then ruled it into a ten by twenty centimetre grid. Then I drew out patterns on the paper. The patterns had to show reflection, translation, rotation and/or enlargement. Then I colored it, printed it four times, then glued those four pieces of paper on an A2 piece of paper.
I thought this unit was fun\not fun. Fun because I got to draw my own art work work and color and all that. And not fun because when I did the enlarging task I was in at lunch to finish it because I didn't understand how to do the enlargement and Ben helped me.

Ski Trip
Ski Trip
On Monday the 16th of August 2016 Room One at Karoro School went to Porters ski field everyone had to be at school a 6:45pm that meant people had to get up at 6:15. When we left everyone hopped in cars and had a two hour journey to Porters.
When we got there we got our skis and our ski boots on. Then we got sorted into groups, into beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers. I was in beginners. In beginners I had a twenty five minute lesson and when I was good enough Ms Kemp gave me a password so I could go on the intermediate.
After a while I finally got the hang of it and I got told the password which was Mawhera. I told Mrs Martin so she let me on the intermediate slope. My dad came on with me for my first time but I fell off the gondola thing [the poma lift]. I went again and I made it up to the top. When I went down the wind was blowing in my face and I went side to side then I came to the bottom so I went on the slope again.
Finally it was time to drive home. Jack was in the car and so was Mrs Martin. Halfway home, I think it was past Arthurs Pass, I fall asleep. I woke up to a step of a brake. My dad was stopping for road works. I ended up with watching Jack eat his white chocolate all the way home.
I really enjoyed the ski trip and I'm going next year if I can. My dad said that he will take me back on the weekend.

My Nuclear Speech
Nukes and War
WALT: Show an increasing understanding of how to shape texts for different purposes and audiences.
Context: Rotary Speech Competition
Success Criteria: we will have met our learning intentions when we can
- Construct texts that show an awareness of purpose and audience through deliberate choice of content, language, and text form.
- Convey and sustain personal voice where appropriate.
- Write and film our own version of a “edTalk” to share with our peers.
Tena kotoka tora kia ora koutou ko gage toku ingoa No mathata ahau
Ladies and gentlemen ducks and goats other life forms and people from long time ago in galaxy far far away. Today I'm going to talk about the nukes. The nuke Is an extremely dangerous weapon. The nuclear bomb is a weapon more effective than any man made weapon in the world it can crave the lives of billions millions trillions and quad zillions .
Many countries around the world are still making nukes like USA, Russia, UK, France, China, India, Pakistan, Israel, North Korea and the death star. I think these places should stop making and get rid of the nukes because if one thing goes wrong between two countries it could lead to World War III.
There are still places around the world that are still recovering from radiation like Chernobyl in 1986 a nuclear plant blew up which made the place radioactive no one is allowed in that place for another 20,000 years to come. The other terrible thing nukes do is global warming when a nuke explosion it doesn't just fly up into the air it goes to the Arctic and Antarctica which makes it meld which is another world issue there is no good that comes out of a nuke only death extinction loss of land and war.
What do nukes look like? Sound like?
What a nuke looks like? There are many different types of nukes some of them can be bigger than others there are different types of nukes most common two are the warhead and the missile nukes the differences are one is fatter and shorter one is skinny but longer.
There are places called nuke test site where it is a little fake town and these fake houses and fake dummy people so they can see the effects and destruction of the nuclear bomb from a distance away. They used this when they invented the nuke so they can also study it If you have seen Indiana Jones and the last crusade movie when he crawls into a refrigerator you will know what I mean. Once the blow the nuke their there was heaps of radiation so they had to keep moving places to set up a different plastic town.
I think nukes and other warhead bombs should not be a thing because if one of those blow up It could affect most of the south island of New Zealand not explosion but the radiation the radiation can spread out fast and far the nukes radiation can go as far as 41 km across from both sides of the explosion and 15 km in every direction from where it started.did you know that there are over 15,000 nukes in the world the country with the most nuke is america they have something like 6,000 nukes.
Nukes are made out of Radiation, Metal, explosives and uranium uranium is this type of chemical found in the earth it is extremely dangerous and toxic and just by touching it with bare skin can scare you for life. The nuclear bomb will only explode when it smacks something with large inpace then that impact will let of the explosion.
The thing we can do is put a stop to making nukes and the nukes that have been made should be locked away just in case of a zombie apocalypse or godzilla comes or something like that. If we don't end nukes nukes will end us.
